Fuzion splicing is the process of fusing to optical fibres together end to end using heat to join them. The main objective of this is to fuse the optical fibres in such a way that when light is passed through the end result does not occur with light being scattered or reflected back. Fusion splicing offer much better reflectance performance compared to mechanical splicing.
